I've been wanting to do a post for a while now about a bridal shower that my mom and I held for one of my cousins. The theme of the shower was the ever-so popular yellow and gray (grey?). We had a ton of fun putting this together, and it made me wish I had trillions of dollars so I could plan events for everyone I know. I handmade the decorations (duh), and we made the majority of food (that's right, we're some good cookin' ladies when we want to be).
On the inside...............STOPPPP.
Before I go any further, I have to feel you in on our stress level while setting up. For someone who likes to be in control (talking about me here) my stress level, on a scale of 1-10, was a 14. The man in charge of unlocking the door and letting us in was supposed to be there 10-15 minutes prior to our arranged set up time. Mind you I had all kinds of melty foods in my car, cupcakes and chocolate foods being high up on the high risk melting scale. We got there, no man in sight. Okay, well he's a few minutes behind. 5 minutes go by, still no man. Okay, he'll be here in the next few seconds. 10 minutes, where is this guy? At 20 minutes I go to check on my cupcakes chilling in the car...the icing at this point is sliding off (it was hot outside, and my gas needle was on E.) Oh. Hell. No. I go into bitch mode right then and there. Long story short, my firefighter hero hubby was able to call some acquaintances at the police department at somehow track down this tools cell phone #. 30 minutes late the guy arrived, and his excuse..."I forgot". Seriously? Make some shit up! He got the evil eye and a butt chewing and we were left with less than an hour to set up.

If anyone went away hungry, it was their own fault! We had fruit with coconut dip, chocolate truffles, cupcakes, chocolate pretzels, chicken salad croissants, pasta salad, cream cheese mints, nuts, pinwheels, deviled eggs, and vegetables (Pinterest inspired). We also had individual banana puddings in mason jars , that a lot of people took (bring those back!!!). Note for the future, make a note informing people not to snag our jars!

For "entertainment" we made fortune cookies that had words of wisdom, and funny quotes regarding marriage. Each person took a fortune cookie and read aloud their quote. We got a bible for the bride and groom to keep; guests were instructed to highlight their favorite verses and sign their name alongside the page. For a guestbook type deal, we got a game of Jenga and had everyone sign a different block.
All in all, everything went great and I believe the bride and guests had a good time (which was most important to us).
Hopefully there will be a future in event planning for my mom and I.
